About Us

As a free and voluntary association of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our lives, we, the members of the First Baptist Church of Blair, do hereby acknowledge the following beliefs:

1. The verbal inspiration of the Old and New Testament Scriptures.

2. The belief that Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary is the only means of salvation from sin and Hell; that He was buried and that He arose again the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Cor 15:4).

3. The sinfulness of man was brought about by the fall of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3.

4. The belief that the source of all evil in the universe and the world springs from Satan who rebelled against God; that Satan was one of the chief archangels who rebelled against God along with legions of angels.

5. The Church is the body of Christ which consists of all those born again by the Holy Spirit of God.

6. That the Godhead consists of the Father, son and Holy Spirit, all equal in nature and one in purpose.

7. The priesthood of all believers or the right of each Christian to be a priest and approach God through Jesus Christ who is our great High Priest and Intercessor.

8. Believers baptism by immersion, following a decision to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

9. The Lord’s Supper as symbolic in nature of the body and blood of our Lord, and grace is received by faith.

10. The local church is a democracy, autonomous in nature.  Yet we are interdependent on other American Baptist Churches in sharing our missionary outreach.  We further recognize that God works in other denominations and interdenominational groups, also a part of the body of Christ.

11. That Jesus Christ was God in human flesh, equal God and man, born of the Virgin Mary through the miracle of the Holy Spirit.  That Jesus was God of every god, yet humbled Himself to take on the form of sinful flesh, and lived without sin and become sin and a sin offering for us.

12. That He will come again for His Church at the close of this age of grace to seize all who belong to him.

13. The separation of Church and State.
